1 Child-care Allowance
(1) Overview
This allowance is provided to those who are raising children.
When you have borne a child or move in from another municipality, submit an “Application for Certification of Eligibility for Child-care Allowance” to Miyazaki City so that you can receive the Child-care Allowance.
Once you get certified, you will receive the Child-care Allowance of the month following the month of application in principle. If the date of birth or move-in (transfer) is close to the end of the month, you can receive the Child-care Allowance of the month of application provided that you make an application in the following month within 15 days after the date of birth or transfer.

(2) Eligibility
Those who are raising a child are eligible for the Allowance until the first March 31 after the child reaches the age of 15.
* As a general rule, the Allowance is paid for children living in Japan. If your child lives abroad for study and meets all of the following requirements, you can receive it as an exception:
- The child has had an address in Japan for more than three consecutive years until the day before he/she lost an address in Japan
- The child is living abroad for the purpose of receiving education separately from parents (or minor’s guardian)
- Within three years from the date on which the child lost the address in Japan
2 Child-rearing Allowance
(1) Overview
This allowance is provided to those who have custody of and are raising a child who does not have the same livelihood as his/her father or mother.

(2) Period of eligibility
- Until the first March 31 after the child reaches the age of 18.
- For children with disabilities who receive the Special Child-rearing Allowance, until they reach 20 years of age.
(3) Eligibility for allowance
[1] The child who meets any of the following conditions:
- The parents are divorced (including dissolution of common-law marriage).
- The father or mother is deceased.
- The father or mother is in a state of severe disability.
- The identity of the father or mother is unknown.
- The father or mother has neglected the child for over a year.
- The father or mother has received a domestic violence protection order from the court.
- The father or mother has been detained for over a year.
- Is the child of an unmarried couple, etc.
[2] If a person other than the father or mother is raising the child, the person is living with the child.
